NEW SHOP MANAGER!!

Hi everyone - due to my tardiness and general chaotic lifestyle, I have handed over the Blog to our new shop manager, Greg. Greg, this is everyone, everyone, Greg. He'll be doing a much better job than me at all this and keep you all informed about the goings on at both the private and street studios. That's all for now. Thanks ;)

The photo is of a job I completed recently for Fari who won this backjob in a competition with Sega Australia - it's based on the artwork for the main YAKUZA game character, initially designed by HORITOMO from STATE OF GRACE in San Jose. He sat like the martial warrior he is, and is now the proud owner of a traditionally designed Ryu backpiece! Thanks both to Sega for the opportunity and to Fari for being a great guy.

Nearly there!

Ok peoples, I realise the new studio has been a LOOONNNNNNNNGGGGG time coming, but we are now about 3 to 4 weeks away from opening the doors to the public. The benches are in, the flooring is down, we are just co-ordinating tradesmen now to get it finished.

Clarity will sadly be leaving Tatudharma in October, to open a rather ambitious project with her partner - stay tuned to this space for more info. We wish her all the best in her new venture.

Taking her place (physically, not personally..) will be Rhys Gordon, formerly of Innervision Tattoo in Surry Hills. Rhys has been around for a while, and is doing some great solid work. We look forward to the new dynamic and having an artist with huge potential joining the crew.

Nathan and i will be working the convention in New Plymouth in November - the New Zealand Tattoo and Art Festival - it's looking like it's going to be an AMAZING show, with 150 artists confirmed, a LOT of really good tattooers. Flights are cheap, but if you are thinking of coming along, make sure you book accommodation VERY SOON because Jack Johnson is playing New Plymouth that same weekend, so it'll be busy. Nathan is close to being booked out, and I've only got a few spots left, so if you want to skip very long wait lists to get tattooed, get in touch soon.

The MORTE exhibtion will be opening on the 21st October in Darlinghurst, the address still to be announced. There's a lot of great tattooers and artists that are contributing, and most of it will be for sale on the opening night only, so make sure you mark that date! It's looking like being a very big event.

My apologies for not updating the blog more regularly, but being a father, a working artist, tattooist and running a business makes for very little admin time! Thanks for keeping in touch, I'll make a more concerted effort to post news and art here more often.

Moving along, slowly but surely..

Ok peoples, the new studio has been given the go-ahead from the lovely people at Sydney City Council so we're under the construction phase now. It means that basically Nat and I bumble around for a few months trying to fit everything into the small space, and trying to co-ordinate our friends who are the tradies.

Aureole from Brisbane will be down doing a guest spot next month - call the studio to get her number (02) 96999029 to make an appointment.

I've got an exhibition happening in November, dates will be posted soon. I'll be sharing the walls with my good friend Crystal from Gomineko Books in Tokyo who does cool screens made from old kimono fabric. I've got at least one HUGE piece planned, so hopefully it'll be worthwhile attending. That's all for now - leaving you with a picture of my crazy dog, thanks to Helen from Blue Murder studios for the great photo.

New Studio

So word may have got around about the new studio. It's a small space not far from the current private studio. We initially wanted to make it a full-time street shop as we all miss the spontaneity of that environment. At present we are still tapping our fingers waiting for the DA approval from the council, so it looks like it's still at least 6 weeks away. We're very excited about creating the space and the launch but there is still a lot of work to do. I'll be posting further news here as things progress.

Horimasu is now working at Innervision Tattoo in Surry Hills. He's still a nice guy and still a good tattooist, so go get something off him!

All of us now have our own tshirts for sale, I hope to get some photos up here of them soon.

Nathan and I will be working the New Zealand Tattoo and Art Festival in November - see their site for details and book soon if you want to get some work done. It's a good chance for those of you who don't want to wait 18 months to get work from either of us, and flights are CHEAP.

I'll also be doing a friend's convention in Singapore in December - more details as i get them.

This pic something i did a while back but i still like it! Enjoy.

New website, new shop, new artists..

Ok, so we're getting busy here at Tatudharma. At present we have working with us: myself (Josh), Nathan Puata, Clarity Hampshire, Tong, and Alex Cairns.

As of next Thursday (13th May) we will also have Horimasu from Japan working a guest spot for a month or so. He does great work and is a super nice guy, come and get tattooed!!! Ring the studio on 96999029 to make an appointment with him.

The website is undergoing a major overhaul, so at the moment it's bare bones (www.tatudharma.com). Also, we have a new shop opening soon - it's going to be a streetshop version of the current Tatudharma, with a few new artists and continuing the friendly and professional atmosphere we have come to be known for. The private studio will remain open with the artists listed above working by appointment only. The studio website has links to everyone's work.

Here's a little taste of some of my recently finished work too..
